On these dates the Georgia State Capitol and state office buildings will be closed.

 

2026

New Year’s Day will be observed on Thursday, January 1.

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday will be observed on Monday, January 19.

A state holiday will be observed on Friday, April 3.

Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 25.

Juneteenth will be observed on Friday, June 19.

Independence Day will be observed on Friday, July 3.

Labor Day will be observed on Monday, September 7.

Columbus Day will be observed on Monday, October 12.

Veterans Day will be observed on Wednesday, November 11.

Thanksgiving Day will be observed on Thursday, November 26.

A state holiday will be observed on Friday, November 27.

Washington’s Birthday will be observed on Thursday, December 24.

Christmas Day will be observed on Friday, December 25.

 

In accordance with state law, each year Georgia's governor announces which holidays will be observed by the state government. The official memo issued by Governor Brian P. Kemp announcing these dates is available for 2026.
